Cefpimizole sodiim is a semisynthetic cephalosporin that has a broad spectrum of bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects, especially against fl-lactamase producing bacteria. 26 cases of ocular bacterial infection were observed on the microbiologic, clinical aspect and therapeutic effect of cefpimizole sodium.
1. The most prevalent age group was fifth decade and the sex ratio was male 70%, female 30¡Æ10.
2. The history of evident ocular trauma was found in 77% of the cases.
3. In the bacteriostatic studies, positive results were 22/26 in smear (Gram positive 23% Gram negative 55%) and 22/26 in culture.
